In the 2020-2021 Season, here at Saddleworth Strikers we'll be building on the FA Charter Standard status we earned last year, by registering six teams in the East Manchester Junior Football League for the 2020-2021 season. As the newest club in the area, all the coaches and club officials are delighted that we've been able to recruit enough new children to the club to add two new teams for the upcoming campaign.

Whilst the restrictions posed on grassroots football continue to be in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic at the time of writing, Strikers teams have commenced summer social distance training, and are busy preparing registrations so that everything is ready for when junior football can resume. Registrations will be largely submitted online this year, as it is unlikely we will be able hold a face-to-face event to sign old and new players on the dotted line.

The two additional teams joining the ranks are an u8s side (made up largely of players from our Soccer School) and a second u9s team. They will be joined by our existing u9s, an u11s and two u12s sides.

Although ending abruptly, last season saw a level of success for all four EMJFL squads. The u8s in their first season went from strength to strength and were promoted twice, the u9s went unbeaten in the second half of the campaign, and the two u11s both enjoyed an in-season promotion which demonstrated their progress. U11s and U8s also earned their way to cup finals, which unfortunately never took place due to 2019-2020's preumature closure. Whilst our club ethos of fostering a fun and friendly football environment remain at the forefront, it was greatly encouraging to witness the progress all our players made.
In addition to our league teams in 2020-2021, our soccer school will get back up and running as soon as it is safe and possible, for children aged 4-7, and all the details can be found here.
